Fokker Triplane

Hi!

My new project is a large Fokker Triplane por my 6 yo kids' room. My idea is to make it from colored paper instead of printing color on white paper.

First, I designed it... I want it to look simple and a littler cartoonish, so details are simplified and some shapes scaled down a little:

The paper is a beautiful thick 200 gr. from Fabriano paper (one of the oldest italian paper manufacturers of Europe and probably the world), together with a metallic one for the engine and my kids name on the sides.

Building started about a month ago...

The model is completed at the time of writing this (I wanted to make sure it wasn't another one of my past unfinished projectes) so more to come soon!

Mauri

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your comments.

Progress went along nicely with the addition of struts, machine guns, and landing gear.

After the top wing was added, it starts to look like the design... only the center struts and the propeller are missing at this point.

Thanks for watching!

Great decoration for a kid's room! Any plans for a Camel or SE5 to go with it? Or will you branch out to a tank or ship?

I think that you can have your 6 year old build this model as well. Maybe in a year or two.

I was seven years old when I started building paper models.

Bravo on your project

Hi Mauri, that's a great piece of work! I hope it will survive intense playing and indeed, hopefully it will spark off something with your son. My lifelong addiction to modeling started when my father built paper and plastic models for me when still in Kindergarten, and later on the Airfix 1:72 WWI and WW2 aircraft models in the early seventies. Those small plastic bags with an undefined bunch of parts were cheap and irresistible to young boys of my age.

Cheers,
Erik
