Since moving to Florida in 1993, Marji and I drove to Oregon several times to visit he and his wife Barb, I think the first time around 2001 and last time would have been before 2008 (?) as he still had PMI, I last spoke to him in 2018 (?) at that time, he and his wife were enjoying their retirement, spending some, "oceanfront time" in Canon Beach Oregon.

The reason for the question marks is because Marji would know EXACTLY, as she was very good about, "specifics"

If I recall correctly, he told me to design for, "lil' Johnny and Mrs. Jones" because when it came down to spontaneous (gift shop) purchases, those were the TWO, "deciding factors".

(apparently Mr. Jones doesn't get much of a say)...

The thing about it is, that line code is both simple and effective.

It worked very well when I got it 40 years ago and still works today!

Why change?, what's the old adage?, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Lou referred to it as, "The European Line Code", where he got that, he didn't say, he just told me to use it.

So "back in the day", it would set you back more than $500 to print a paper model, 20 printing plates at $20 a piece and then runtime, ink and stock on a four drum, offset press.

You had to print a minimum of 500 copies just to justify the expense.

Yeah, those were the days... I refer to them as, "the dark ages"..

Lou also taught me his assembly techniques and they are like WAY, "old school" but they make perfect, logical sense.

Too much to type.

The reason that Marji declined buying PMI is because, after Lou gave her, "the 50 cent tour" her stated reason being: "it looks too much like work".

She loved card models but not so much, "work" she did however give it thoughtful consideration and was in a financial position to easily do so had she chosen to.

Details, who needs them?

Sorry for the delay guys, I was, "on a mission", you see, while I have thousands of reference images, they were all taken prior to the application of the fire suppression equipment such as hand tools and hoses.

I had all of the mounts located and placed but no implements, I had to make a specific trip to the ship to photo-document the exterior, fire suppression equipment.

Note that what all of these photos is the use of a photo macro graphic scale used to accurately scale the images.

Ha! Pic 2 shows sound powered phone jacks. The covers are missing. A common issue, the ball chains that kept the covers were popular as short timer chains... pop off a ball every day until you left.

So that's what it is!, there are a number of these in strategic locations, I have seen some with the caps in place but no ball chains!

Progress

Things are starting to get, "colorful", The blue area is to receive the flight deck netting, all of the details within the blue areas will be transposed beneath and between the netting and their frames as these details would be notable when the netting is in place.

The fifth image gives an idea as to what type of rivet detailing I have yet to do.

All of the mounts are done in the same way, heavy contrast line shading and the occasional drop shadow.

My palette continues to grow, note that all of the features are actually created here with the shadowing in place before adding the object to the general graphics.
