P-47 "Maj Mac" Photoshoot Build / "Test" Build

Hey Y'all! Just started to work on this P-47 kit from Daves Card Creations. The aircraft is in the "Maj Mac" Paint scheme and it is a much older rendition of Dave's P-47 kit. No interior, No recessed landing gear bays. I'm doing an open canopy configuration. Check this out, here is the progress I have made so far

More progress! Added the tail and some more vents. Gives it a good "pop" of color.

You're off to a great start on the fuselage. I look forward to seeing her come together.

wow, this is gonna be the quickest build I've ever seen.
(I only sent him the kit this afternoon!)

haha I like the way the Pilot has moved to the rear seat!!

This is obviously my error...
putting the pilot silhouette on there, only works if the canopy is closed. lol

Would you care for another canopy? without the pilot?
Can you swap it at this stage?
I could make one and send it to you?

It might be a little tricky to swap it at this point. But maybe if you could edit the kit and add a newer canopy option without the pilot then that would work. I added the nose cowling and the tail wheel. Coming together wonderfully!

Seems I don't have the original artwork for the old canopy.
I replaced it when I did the 2nd Gen P47s.
If you wish to change the canopy, I can give you the canopy from a newer kit.

Maybe its time to update the remaining 1st gen P47s to the newer model.
Then, they get cockpits, wheel wells, etc...and whatever updated artwork.

I'll wait until you are finished, just in case theres any other artwork updates needed.

So...I have notified OSN of my intentions to update this model to "2nd Gen" right away.

I updated a number of my older P47 kits to my new modified/updated 2nd Gen version, a few years back,
but Maj Mac still hasn't been updated.

After doing some more research on this aircraft, I have decided there are many things I want to change on my model.
There are also some errors on my part.
So, this is a good excuse to start updating again (to 2nd Gen) and start with Maj Mac.

OSN has been kind enough to agree to stop building the Maj Mac model (1st Gen)
and restart with the 2nd Gen version.
Thank you OSN.

I've already sent him the alpha-Gen 2-version.

Yup! So for those of you who are just tuning in I am going to start on the 2nd gen version of the model. Right as I opened up the file and saw the color upgrades and everything I was in love! I can't wait to work on this and I'll get some update photo's out to y'all here soon. I am going to add a lot of detail to this since i have access to an interior and recessed landing gear bays so stay tuned for that. Thank you Dave! these new templates are incredible!!!

Alright, I have started the cockpit. Fun assembly, I printed out the page for the cockpit twice so I could layer all the instruments on the cockpit wall and give it a more 3D look. It is hard to see in the image there but it is okay. I also forgot to add the little bend in the control stick, but it'll be okay. So far it looks really nice. Can't wait to continue the assembly.

I caught myself studying your photos, critiquing the assembly..
I even questioned "what is next?" at one point...
before I realized again, that it was my own design! haha

lol its been so long since I built one of these, I can't remember how it all goes together!
