Autogyro.
G'day folks,
I am looking in to a (Flying) card model autogyro, it will be a monocoque design. I have some fairly stiff but thin cardboard which seems to be reasonable but I accept it may change during a test process. Rubber powered, not looking at anything else just yet but will see how far this takes me. Am I OK posting progress here for comments/critique? A nominal length of about 8". |

Not sure if this is any help, but a few decades ago, stick-and-tissue peanut scale maven the late Bill Hannan designed a couple of simple balsawood flying autogyros. You might be able to adapt his methodology to paper.
Here are a couple of leads: Plans and Things - our products - plans (scroll down) Model Plans & 3-views International Vol. 2 – Wind-it-up Enterprises LLC If you think these plans would be of use, send me a PM. Don |

Ta, Don. I am toying wih a monocoque which is proving interesting. Sidelined a little while I try to figure a few things out.
Essentially the method will involve segments of different shapr to give offset joints and make the shell more rigid. Of course, that is the chocolate hobnob in the packet..... Thanks for all your contributions to this forum, I have learned a heck of a lot from you. Stay well, Sir. |

That Plans and Things link has some nice stuff. Also, don't forget the AeroFred site. It has a Kayaba Ka-1 and Little Nellie among others. The plans now request a donation (they didn't in the past).

Check Fiddler's Green
If you want to have a frame to use to present your working design, Fidder's Green has two autogyros that might be enlarged enough for your engine...

Hi Mike, looks like an interesting project. There are several free stick and tissue plans at "https://outerzone.co.uk" including rubber powered.
The plan titles are a bit varied so if you do a search using terms like "gyro" and "giro" you should turn up most of them. |
