After you complete the NASA bird, please consider some of those liveries. No one has done them; the field is wide open to you! They would make evocative models in 1/32 scale.

If you are really going to do this, I am very good at vacforming canopies. You could offer this as a deal through ECardmodels complete with a canopy.
Shoot me an e-mail, inpaperdesigns AT gmail DOT com. Thanks!

Thanks for all the input, ideas and interest guys. Looks like I'll go ahead and get a start on this one.

I found a nice one at the local air show similar to one of John's, only dark grey instead of black

Didn't the Thunderbirds fly the T-38 for awhile? (The USAF not the puppets!).That would be very cool as well.

A T-38 in any scheme would be nice. Although I never had the opportunity to fly in a Talon, I did arrange for many people to spend time in the UPT T-38 simulator at Columbus AFB when I was stationed there. I also had the chance to play with it myself. It was a lot of fun 8v)

Interestingly, I have war stories regarding the T-38. One involves a NASA flagged bird which required refueling at Kincheloe AFB. I was sent out in my big, yellow R-5 refueler to gas it up. As I was finishing the paperwork, the pilot came over and signed for the fuel I passed. I finished the job and went back to my office and was filing the paperwork, when I realized the pilot was one of the astronauts who had recently returned from the moon. Can't remember his name now, but I had his signature on a piece of paper I had to file away...hehe.

But my worst T-38 memory happened on January 18, 1982. Several months before that date, the Thunderbirds has performed at the Columbus AFB air show in Mississippi. That morning I was on the phone to the Public Affairs arranging to have media recordings and other data sent to the team's PA office. As I talked to the NCO in charge on the other end of the phone, he suddenly cut me off as I was talking and said, "I gotta go. We just lost the team." He then hung up.

Puzzled, I hung up and went back to work. An hour or so later, I heard the news that the entire team crashed while practicing a maneuver.

My heart sank, as I had gotten to know the entire team very well when they were at Columbus.

Yes...I would like to see a T-38 model in Thunderbird colors.

That was when the four aircraft in the diamond flew into the ground behind the leader - who allegedly had a malfunction with the stick.

I know a couple of Marines who would disagree that the USAF are not a bunch of puppets! LOL
