Breaking a model into pages...

OK got another question!

I just designed a model to glue onto a boat for a company function. However the whole thing will not fit and print to need proportions on a single sheet.

I have texturized it in GIMP already (well most of it). I still need to do the roof (which will have a couple A/C units attached when I am done)

I own pep designer. Can I import it into there somehow and have pep break it down? I dont want to have to redo all the textures... The model is currently in .tga format but I can save it to many different things.
Thanks
Chris

i dont think i understand. you have the model allready laid out? you can insert an image into pep and make it fit to a page. but you will need to nfold something to do it. you could use a simple square then just move the square off the work space to print.

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

correct, the model is already unfolded and textured. I just manually sliced it up in gimp

you can insert an image into pep and resize the image on a page. but you can only do it in an unfolded project. making a simple cube and unfolded it in pep. insert the image. move the cube peices off the work area.

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

you wont be able to manipulate individual parts of the image. if you are trying to get it all on 1 page at a certan scale you will have to manipulate the parts in gimp. you can resize the image in pep but would change the scale.

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

Might work ok anyhow.... but on to a new issue

I rescaled the whole thing in gimp and chopped it up into individual pieces - its really a simple model. But here is my current issue. In gimp it tells me the size in mm of the parts so I know its the size I need. Its too big to fit onto a normal letter size page so I got some legal sized cardstock to print my out without cutting the pig sections apart. No matter what I do I cant seem to get it to convert properly. It always ends up undersized (converted to pdf using pixillion or primo pdf ends up same result). If I print it directly from GIMP it ends up humongous. Can someone help me? I can email the files as needed.
Thanks
Chris
p.s. my time frame is kinda tight or I would play with it more myself :(

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

when printing from gimp, what size is the work space you are using in gimp? in other words set you work space to the size you would be printing on. then arrange the parts?

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

I have the canvas set to 8.5x14 already I wonder if my size adjustment is because it cant fit the entire canvas into the print or exported image. I will give it a try shrinking it a bit if I can figure it out anyhow

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

It still prints out too small. I am just going to make it and see if I can get the slightly small one to work :(

Re: Breaking a model into pages...

Usually I do the contrary: I import the outline generated by Pep in Gimp and then elaborate it.
