Redo or not the pulqui II?
Well, I have my hands full for example I owe some pictures of a model to Chris, I working on that Chris :o
But I thinking to get back to try to design my models. I argentian and a lot of planes from my country aren't represented. Seems to be a century ago I've tried to design my first model: this is the old thread at zealot: http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149772 As you can see the model was very advanced: and I was lucky to get a beta test by Gerardo: http://paperjerry.blogspot.com/2007/...-en-papel.html |

After that began to be difficult to me to do design or papermodeling because a combination of factors: family, work and my one year old at that moment daughter For a time I was unable to use knifes because she wanted to touch everything!!!
But one reason stopped to me: I've designed the pulqui with very few information, just some 3d views and pictures from internet. After I bough a new book about the Argentine prototypes I discovered a big difference: I designed the pulqui with a circular cross section but with the book I learned the correct information: the cross section was elliptical. So I began to doubt: I've to redo the model? Because I've to change all the fuselage: formers, panels, etc. I don't know a way to do it automatically in Rhino. Or I've to just to finish the model? I was so close. Well , this was a long text. Sorry if I bored you, just sharing this model wip history and my doubts. Any thoughts? Opinions? Maybe you know a way to do it on Rhino. Thanks for read Alcides |

Hello!
Wow, my Calquin will be not the one representative of the Argentine Air Force! My first model wasn`t as advanced as yours. Looks very good! I have only one notice about roundel (insignia of AAF) and red stripe on model: I don`t know whether you can do in Adobe Illustrator (I work in Corel), but if yes I think it probably would look better without the black lines (banding), as in real Pulqui II: http://marina.fortunecity.com/caledo.../pulqui2_4.jpg http://altair.com.pl/files/grafika/s.../pulqui-ii.jpg http://www.airliners.net/photo/Argen...ext_id=1077132 Best regards. Since you are so close Alcides why not offer it as a free model with a note about the cross section and then offer the correct design for sale whenever you get it done? Just a thought.
I know on this forum we have a number of designers using Rhino/Rhino3D: Nobi, Kooklik, JTFox, Krzychu74, Willja67, Dragos - maybe others. Perhaps a PM to them might get you the information you need on making changes in Rhino. |

Hi Alcides
Great to see you getting back to this model. I have been suprised by how more recent information on several different early jets has shown that their sections were not in fact circular. Sadly when this happens the new 2D developed shapes may not appear to differ greatly from the old. However 3D geometry is such that the new shapes can only be found from the new formers, and new aerofoils, and new intersections of components. They cannot accurately be predicted by adjustments to the old 2D shapes. I suspect that looking back in the long term you personally will always know, and perhaps regret, if you do not do a complete re-work. |

Hola, Alcides! Perseverance!!!
Do not stop your work here - try to get it done correctly, and you'll get satisfaction by a job well done and a big applause from this community. By the way, if I remember correctly, there was a Schreiber Bogen of the Pulqui (I, or II? = my guess) in the 1950ies, now being a rarity, as the new editors have discontinued producing military aircraft paper models. Kind regards - Papercaptain |
