3ds Max Question......
Is anybody familiar with 3ds Max? Specifically the render engine?
I am using the render engine to create a photo of a finished model to post here on the forum. the issue that I am having is that when I render the photo, the background is all black. The model gets "lost" on this black background and is difficult to see. (See attached photo) I have tried using the "alpha channel" button, which creates a matte effect, separating the black background from a white outline of the model. Which can then be used as a matte to remove the black background in Photoshop. But when I save this Alpha photo, it saves it as another black background photo.... Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Press the 8 key, this brings up the envrionment settings, change environment background color to white or light grey or whichever you prefer.
To get a even better look, make a large plane under the model to act as the ground. Add a skylight anywhere in the scene. If you are using the default scanline renderer, hit f10, go to the advanced lighting tab, and select Light Tracer, then render, this will give some nice realistic shadows on the model. If you are using Mental Ray, same thing, except in F10, go to the Indirect Illumination tab, and check the box for Final Gather, set it to Draft, and render. Hope this helps... |
