Can make 90° and 45° cuts. They can be found many places online and at local stores.

Well, that's an amazing model (the Hunley). Just unbelievable. Thanks for the link. Looks like modelers are using all types of materials (besides paper) to build their creations.

In his photo descriptions, I think he (Maj Charles Davenport) says he used illustration board for the skeleton of the model. And then some type of "closed-cell Styrofoam" to create the bulk of the hull - the type of Styrofoam you might find in a shipping box for a computer.

The Hot Wire Foam Factory he used looks very cool (always wondered if there was a better way to cut that stuff!!). Of course, my favorite line from Maj Davenport is this:

You can make your own hot wire cutter with some wood, a motorcycle battery and 30AWG nichrome wire purchased over the Internet.

That's my kind of guy

yup!,.. and his models kick butt too!,..
my garage model area have a collection of stuff that I call "possibles",.. includes plastic product packaging (for any possible clear type application,..) aluminum tape,.. aluminum tubing,.. paper rolls (of various sizes),.. spray can primer filler, floral wire,..styrofoam of all kinds,. (I my favorite is the 'depron' type),.. adhesives of all types,... paints of all types,..you name it, i hoard it for possible use in modelling,.. the pay off is when someone says,.. "you made that, outta what?,.."
