3D software
I am new to paper, built plastic as a kid many yrs ago, so i have questions.
What is the best 3D software for turning 2D pictures into 3D for models ? What is the best software for making 3D models ? And why is it that the Europeon sites have laser cut paper kits and in North America it looks to be rare? More questions to come |

Good things are built with both freebie and paid software. I think it is just personal preference of which software is best. After tried just about all the freebie and the low end paid software available, I settled with Rhino for it low learning curve and ability to do it all in paper modeling and 3d printing.

I asked the same question half a year ago and most people recommended Rhino. I buyed it with the student's sale and didn't regret it. It's very powerful for paper model design. What I found a bit tricky is getting more complex courved shapes for non-paper models right, in fact I have still problems there. What is also a bit of a draw back is that it's non-parametric, so you have to redo a lot of steps if something changes on the design. But most of the time I really enjoy working with it.
