EXCELLENT!!

okay thats funny.
As I said, first time you look at a pic...you see something.
And then the more you stare at it, you get confused.

My very first impression was foreign words.
Because there is an important point to the stops in Russia and China.
But then I quickly tossed that idea, thinking theres no way the US would put
Russian and Chinese wording on their plane.
LOL

excellent! thank you!!
from this I should be able to sort out the proper text.
Gulliver in Russian and Chinese makes perfect sense.

Well, thanks everyone for all the help.

Wasn't that fun?!

See this is what I do.
I could slap any old thing on this model.
In a lot of cases its so tiny, that it probably won't even print and nobody would notice.

But that doesn't matter.
I like to find some actual photos of the actual thing and try to recreate it as close as possible.

And with the help of some smart folks, I usually get it done.

Another C-87 is in the works!

Dave,

I'll get my wife to take a look, she is Chinese and can let you know.

dave,

It's a Chinese literal translation of Gulliver. I'll e-mail you what I wife came up with (including the traditional Chinese characters).

Thanks,
Gary

Yes thanks Gary

I put Gulliver into the Chinese translator and it came back with the same thing your wife sent me.
I already have the artwork done...
but I will go back in and change it
to use the "real" pre 1949 Chinese characters that she sent.

It will be nice to know that it is correct.
And it looks like it might be large enough to actually read on the model.

...
Now I have to decide what to do with this model! lol
I have two versions of Gulliver almost completed.
The olive drab version as it flew around the world,
and its refurbished bare metal version (from the end of the War, when it went to the AAf Museum)

I think, like I did with Gabreski's Thunderbolt, I'll put both versions into the store.
They are both interesting looking planes.

It would be fun to know what the Chinese text actually says since it is most likely characters for words that sound like "Gulliver." The Russian text says, "Gulliver."
