A little Photo Challenge
Can you tell me what is says?
Three lines...I already know the middle line. I have a guess at the other two. This is the best (and only) pic I have found. I've tried manipulating the photo. This is the best I can get. Sometimes a negative can give you more details. But in this case, it doesn't seem to help. The longer you stare at it, the harder it gets to read. I find that the first view, the first thing that posp into your head, is often correct. So tell me...what did you see?

So I've fgured out this is a C-87 Gulliver that carried Wendell Wilkie around on the "One world ambassador" world tour but have no idea what the words are. Not much help am I .

Sometimes the historical info can provide clues to the blurry lettering and/or logos.
(I've done this before) But more times than not, it confuses the mind into seeing things that aren't there. It causes you to focus on certain ideas and words. (I've done this before. lol) Thats why I did not want to reveal the basic info about the plane. The facts...Wendell Willkie, a Lawyer, Presidential nominee and friend of FDRoosevelt. Asked by FDR to do a "friendship" tour of the world in 1943 in support of troops and morale. Flew on a C-87, nicknamed Gulliver, 31,000 miles, a dozen countries, in 51 days. He died two years later...and the plane ended up (refurbished) at AAF Museum in the US (1945). Curiously, this was the very first "production line" C-87 (after the prototype LB30/C-87). Personally... The only clues that the historical facts give, led me to these two conclusions: FDR Gulliver FRIENDSHIP -or- USO Gulliver FRIENDSHIP But as I said, the more you try to relate the information the more you convince yourself of the wrong thing. ... sorry Kacrut, but I really don't see DIXON there. And the third line appears to be 8, 9 or 10 letters

You'll never able to read them from that photo because they're not alphabet
try this: www.wingnet.org/rtw/pix/R003CP5.jpg All three read 'Gulliver' in Japanese (?), Alphabet, and Cyrillic

Looks like it's name in Chinese, American, Russian. Which would fit with it's travels.
Edit - Oooh look - same pic as Raja's |

Dave,
Check this link Round the World Flights At 400% magnification it looks like the bottom line spells "Gulliver" in Russian so the top line probably does the same in Chinese. Edit, It took me to long to type - good job Raja!
