Advice on Layout for Instrument Blister
Some time ago I contacted Tekzo from Peri Paperhobby about upscaling his 1:72 RQ-170 to 1:48 scale. It was very nice of him to reply, but the source files he'd used weren't available so I began the long process of redesigning the UAV based at least on his construction method.
I'm at the point of looking at the overwing instrument blister/pod shown in the photo here. Actual dimensions aren't available, but I know that the pod is shared on the RQ-4 and I have the plastic model of that. Its the curved triangular shape that has me a bit stumped. Its narrow, and elongated somewhat. Tekzo built his of four horizontal segments, but I'm not convinced that is best. Do you guys have any suggestions? As most of my previous work has been on satellites, I'm just not familiar with aircraft design methods.

Nope.
Oh all right if you insist. Pretty sure aircraft don't fly with airfoil sections like those, they're s'posed to be pointy at the back end. Why not use vertical segments for both the over wing antenna and the under wing instrument package, they work well for the intake shape. Don't they? |
