I agree with AirDave, as a designer for 40 years, I strictly adhere to the duration of protection offered by U.S. copyright REGARDLESS, unfortunately they mean very little to those who don't "recognize" them... Solution (?) pay the $50 for a copyright and drag their ass through court if you can catch them, the ONLY thing they "understand" is "money" (take it away from them)....
I fully intend to protect my copyrights whether they are "made available" or not as it is STRICTLY UP TO ME how, if and when they are to be distributed... My models are used primarily for "promotional purposes" so it not only effects me personally but also the interest or entity that I represent....

Piracy is wrong, and it should be prevented as much as possible, but not to the extent of going crazy. I think piracy is a fact, and unfortunately, the format we use for our products doesn't help at all. I won't go crazy about this; no one is going to become rich by selling paper models. I won't lose a night of sleep because of this.

I agree with you Yankeekilo 100%. We have more important things to worry about than the pirate card models. Just don't download them and have a good night sleep. And contrary to what Airwave says, You Tube videos can be downloaded using the free version. Just try it.

It's not about "getting crazy" it's about "protecting your IP"... (You either do it or you don't)
U. S. Copyright law is pretty "black and white" and with no "grey areas" , once ©️ ghted, infringement is easy to prove and pretty much an "open and close" case.

Sadly, it is for these concerns that my current interest, the Jacksonville Naval Museum and the USS ORLECK may choose to forego digital distribution completely...

FRD, what do you mean by "protecting yout IP". I'm sure you know it is legal to change the IP using VPN software. This way one can watch several internet pages that are only available to certain areas. Best wishes!!

Sorry for the confusion, I'm a little "20th century". "IP" = INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. (unless they've changed it)

I have a very good arrangement with the museum, I maintain my copyrights and offer them "exclusive license" to use it, it's a "win-win" (try it sometime)
