I made a video on how to unwrap uv that is geometrically accurate after following the steps using the mininum stretch method of uv unwrapping. Ill be honest trying to come up with a solution that does it in a similar way of the paper model unfolder is very hard so this is the best solution that respects seams.

Well... a little Beethoven is always appreciated but without narration or subtitles it's a bit difficult to figure out what you're illustrating in the video. Yeah, what you're attempting is not easy. I think Rhino3d may be the only modelling program that does this well. But then, it's quite the investment for a hobby level user.

Just uploaded the subtitles I do apologize about that . I think blender is the best free option at the moment with the paper model addon and through my experience if you want a way to respect the seams the method shown in the video once scaled properly is accurate with the real world dimensions. But yes Rhino is really the best solution right now.
