"Sur La Banquise" (On the Ice Pack)
There is a thread, "vintage Decoupages" vintage "découpages" that highlights a couple of blogs that feature vintage paper models, mostly from France.
I have been downloading and restoring each of these models, a number of which are "dioramas." This is a turn table diorama that features animals and people of the ice pack. Owing to the presence of Eskimos, polar bears, and penguins in the same scene, apparently the author was not too picky about WHICH ice pack he was depicting. The date of the model is unknown, but it is likely pre-WWII owing to the art style. Still, a fun and interesting build that took only a few hours. The base measures about 12 inches across the front and extends a bit over 5 inches to the rear.

Excellent diorama, Major D.
I build the Zeppelins sur Paris diorama you sent me and have jsut posted the build. It's a busy time, but I hope to get some of the other models that you and Chris sent me completed in the future. Your reclamation of paper modeling history is much appreciated. Pat - You have done a lot to preserve these vintage models, as well! Don |
