"Altmark" in floating dock / 1:250

Hey folks,

i know, i have been absent for quite a while but i didn't have the time to post a complete report for this diorama. But now that it's finished, i want to share some pics with you.
I started on both models in december 2008 (yeah, ages ago, i know). Since then, i had many breaks and built other models but finally, i got around finishing this.
The models are from HMV (Hamburger Modellbaubogen Verlag) and have been enhanced with the corresponding photo-etched sets.
The pipelines on "Altmark"'s deck were made with brass wire in different sizes.
The rigging was done with Wonder Wire. Corbin (Chaldane) used this for his EGV as well. Great stuff!
I added some figures (1:220) to the diorama to give it a more realistic look.

Both model kits (especially the "Altmark") are really great. There are some minor mistakes in them but nothing serious. Building was fun and i learned a lot during the process.

I hope you enjoy the pics; if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask

Kind regards

Lars

A beautiful model, Lars. And it brought back memories of reading Willi Frischauer and Robert Jackson, Navy's Here! The Altmark Affair, about the boarding of the Altmark and recovery of British prisoners by the crew of HMS Cossack in February 1940.

Excellent!

Holy mackerel. That's a fantastic display and a fantastic build Lars. Even though I know it is paper, looking at those pictures there's still a part of my mind saying "you're sure it's paper?"

Great work, and thanks for sharing those inspiring pictures.

Steve

That is just.... juicy with detail. Very nice.

What are you going to do with it? Glass case display in the living room? Donate to a local maritime museum?

Beautiful models either one would be a prize winner on its own.
