Nice boat frames Joe.
For this project, underwater hulls are not needed. That eliminates some work for you. Mike |

Yes Mike, it's easier in this regard. The first ship I made from the collection was a leut type cargo ship, 12 meters long. I intended this to be some kind of exercise, not a specific boat. That's why she got a name from me, in Croatian: Stari Diko, (grandfather). Almost all of my boats which are now under construction were equipped with oars in addition to the sails. With this ship, I present the situation when a ship is operated in the port in windsilence with it's sail unfolded. Now comes the installation of the sail and it's associated rigging. regards, Joe

Looking so nice, I can almost here distant sounds of a local shanty sung by the fishermen to give rowing a relaxed rhythm.

Thanks Tappi and Bluenoser!
The sail was also placed on the first barge, the running rig will be up later (first picture). After the first barge, the second body is slowly completed. This is Bog’s namin (God with us) mentioned earlier. The purpose of the ship is to mine sand from the seabed. This was done as shown in the picture, in my ship the sand was immediately put in bags. source of the figure (2.picture): MAKETARSTVO Tragom pomorske baštine 2: Kunjski sabunjeri – gajeta Sv. The sailboat is manned and ready to go!
Looks good Joe. How large will your diorama be when finished? Mike |

The water surface is 170x53 cm, which is 5ft6.9in x 1ft 7.6in. This technique has been new information to me as well. Since I've been building the port, I've learned a lot... Regards,Joe

I also finished building the second leut.
For the smaller one, I've also made the standing rigging from wire, so the running rigging on both ships are made that way. I used the coil of an old phone charger for that, it’s as thin as hair. It was stained with about 30 years of humbrol color solvent dye. I used an old diorama background as a base with my old lighthouse: Split rock. We took advantage of the sunshine, so my daughter Mercedes took some good outdoors photos. Introducing “Stari diko” (with a sail raised) and “Bog’s namin” (with a rolled up sail): Regards, Joe
