I bought it at IPMS Nieuwegein (International Plastic Modeler's Society) from www.zeistbouwplaten.nl. But you can buy it in the US as well, I found some websites on the internet.

Sorry to hear that - the link works OK for myself. Try to type it into your browser yourself?! All business is welcome...

I will not take any more space in this thread with my issues, but I did get into the site and I have sent you an email, ordering several tatebanko, Diderick.

Katy - Thank you very much for reminding me that these models exist and for showing us how they look when they are built skillfully

yes all, thanks for the link. that is what I was looking for. I just looked at the model and the instructions. Just to be sure, you need to print out 3 copies of the model (6 identical copies of the "painting" one for the background, and 5 to cut up for the 3 dimensions) correct? Nowhere in the instructions I can find indicates you need to print the 1 page model 3 times...????

Nice idea those tatebankos... I have made something similar with children during a workshop. Another Hokusai's painting that we had build in a shadow box. The children had to analyse the painting and cut different the part according with the perspective. (I had made the pattern of the box before). I show them also my tatebanko and I had prepared a slideshow about Hokusai, tatebankos and japanese painting. I also show them those "modern tatebankos".

It is quite simple to design its own tatebanko in a shadow box from a painting.
