Seems I was wrong!

I'll wait and see......

A quick note to say that my latest addition can be found in the aviation section.

Look for Farman

I almost needed my passport to get there - It's foreign territory to me !!!!!

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike!

Nice to see, some of the old minibox models! I think they are quite underrated and neglected, at least outside the Czech republic and Slowakia, and that's quite a shame. Well done!

I have, however, a litle 'complaint' about your latest addition:
While the Farman indeed is a fine plane, it still is from the 1920/30s - and the airport is way to modern for that. May I suggest Schreiber's Pilatus Porter free download instead? From the looks of it, it's in 1/100 scale, too, and it fits the bill way better in terms of time period.

Michi

Hey lots of modern airports have things like that hanging around in their entrance foyers.

Ahhh... this, of course, is true, but still I'd rather stick to
- operational aircraft first, and
- gate guards second!

It's a case of "needs must when the devil drives" or to be more precise, it's a matter of finding any plane in 1:300. Most kits are in a bigger scale and aren't suited to big reductions.

The Airport kit has some big hangers, so perhaps the "unusual" planes could be stored there ;-)

Cheers

Too true, Mike, too true... (though this depends a bit on your definition of 'suited to big reductions'. In my experience, planes tend to be made up from rather large parts which helps a lot)

Indeed, those convenient (mini)box-shaped planes have gone pretty much out of fashion in the 1930s and 40s, but there are still a few left. And there are a few simple models available, too:
There's the aforementioned Porter Pilatus, of course, a Dornier Do-228, a Britten Norman Islander (both of undefined scale, but that should hold no greater difficulties), and the notorious Pink Shorts Skyvan (again in 1:100ish scale).

On the other hand, the whole thing is a bit of a non-issue as you can put the planes on and off the airport just as you like, can't you?! So, build whatever you like and have fun!

Michi,

Thanks for the sites, I've downloaded two, but will pass on the skyvan ;-)

refering back to an earlier post about Erkotyp, The problem was that there was no way of paying for kits, however I asked about that and I'm told that shortly they will be able to accept payment from abroad!

Cheers

Mike
