Bicarb of soda. Or finely crushed tea. I think the soda may be better at that scale.
Sprinkle a little . Fix with a drop of diluted white glue. Color with paint, dabbing an almost dry brush. Test this first before you do it on the model.

It does not look like a monument of glory, but it's as if a meteorite has hit it.
Even the overpass is not very realistic, it just would not be there. The more realistic is the red-and-white railing around the road and the pedestrian crossing. |

Group B - his model is a hypothetical Socialist Brutal Estate.
So, in reality, this means that Godai can make what he likes....... If it was me I would probably have King Kong lurking there somewhere! And the Monument of Glory I think is great for a scratch built effort, and definitely has Socialist Brutalist feel! I suppose it is all in the eye of the beholder at the end of the day............. ----------------------------- Godai - how are the flowers coming on?

group n - the monument is a stone. We often have stones with names carved on them here in Poland. I got three big of those in my hometown, not counting small ones. Though a statue of an attacking soldier would be just as nice and I migth consider making one from a 1/72 soldier figure - thanks for inspiring the idea.
Also we hardly have red-and-white rails here now and didn't have much of the back during the people's republic. More like poles with chains, that are of that color even now sometimes. Thing is I'm not into making so tiny poles right now. As for the overpass - we used to have then and we keep on having them, especially over larger roads in cities. They are realistic like hell. I'm taking from my own youth experience and memories, though this is definitely a fictitious estate. One thing is all the East Bloc countries differed substantially. I'm planning to make a real place (my old block of flats estate with photo textures and stuff) but that is a future project. Kevin - I tried using tea on some other model, I need to master it a bit - it works, but I'm not skilled enough yet.

I found something else you can use maybe.
Get some fluff from a spin dryer - the stuff that collects after you have dried some clothes. Try fixing with very watered down glue. Then see how it colours with thinned paints. Or you may not have to color it. Use scissors also to cut up stuff finer.

Looking good!
I would try and crush up the tea a bit more if you can.
