A new diorama
A couple of months ago I found a new diorama. I know I've just finished one but this one is completely different and presents me with some new challenges.
I thought I'd only pass on bits when they are completed. You will find how it progresses and may be surprised at the variety of the parts. Here are the first pictures that make up the base. It's 47CM wide and 24 deep. The scale is 1:250. The kit has 24 pages of parts and worryingly 7 double sided pages of instructions. Cheers Mike |

This looks fascinating. I'm eager to see how it develops.
You may have mentioned this before, Mike, but where do you keep all these large and complex dioramas that you build? Don |

Don,
This diorama is very different from any I've seen - it has everything that will be revealed in stages ;-) What it doesn't have is any order of building, although there are instructions for each "element" The instructions say most elements can be placed anywhere on the base! As for storage all my models are kept in boxes in the loft - there are about 40 boxes and countless models (I guess there are more than 200). You may know that we moved out of London about 6 years ago and now live in a small town about an hour by train from London. Unlike most people who move after retirement and down size - we upsized and I now have a whole room for the models and CDs. Not all are big - here's a few I had in a display on Sunday where I "work" as a guide. Cheers |

The diorama has moved on a bit, so here are a few more pictures.
I've added a couple of bridges and bollards plus a truck and cart. I'm trying not to give away too much, but the next stage will be something new for me and will give away some more details ;-) Cheers Mike |

Thanks for the storage explanation, Mike.
Great little display. I like this diorama. It looks like we will watch the construction much as if we were watching a real-world construction take place. Neat! Don |

That sounds about right - but I hope it doesn't take as long ;-)

I have only made two boats before - I added them to the Gdansk dock kit.
There two are a little different from Those. The scale is about the same but these two have a lot more detail - It's almost as if they were produced in a much bigger scale then reduced for this diorama. I have only added pictures of the boats, plus a six inch ruler. Partly to give you an idea of the size and partly to prolong the wait till the next instalment is added ;-))) Cheers Mike |
