Christmas Mail
Christmas Mail
Scale : 1:10 Author : Jiří Křivohlavý, Tomáš Hrebík Source : free model - Christmas 2021 When we're in the Christmas mood, I made this little diorama. As a basis, I used a hand-held post sleigh issued by vTOM for Christmas, supplemented with a few packages from models from the Canon website, a few postcards, a tree and some snow ... A few words about postal sleighs: The sledge was used to transport consignments between the Dolní Bousov post office near Mladá Boleslav and the local train station. (Czech Republic) This is a unique document for the transport of postal items by hand sledge, which has not yet been documented in our environment, both materially and figuratively. Due to the color of the paint and the location of the emblem of the state enterprise Czechoslovak Post (a Czech lion with a postal horn hung on a tricolor), the sled can be dated to the period after 1925, when the official emblem was introduced for postal road vehicles. (Postal Museum) I didn't modify the model itself, I just glued the sled so that they wouldn't be so thin, this is how it looks a little better ... a few photos: |

What a super model, and of a very interesting subject.
And I love the diorama! For originality and execution how about POTM?

Thank you, it's such a small thing that will please ... I like to invent various dioramas, when even a simple model can be made into a unique piece

Very charming diorama. When I saw the lion, I thought, wait a minute, I've seen that lion in Germany and I was right. However, it turns out that it's the Bohemian Lion, a common heraldic figure and used in the coats of arms of cities in Germany that once belonged to the Bohemian crown.
Seeing as how you're from Slovakia and, judging by this post, have some connection to things Czech, I hope you don't mind if I ask a somewhat off-topic question. (I apologize if I'm breaking any forum rules by doing this.) Do you happen to know if any of the films of the great Czech illustrator and animated filmmaker Jiri Trnka are available in the Czech Republic and/or Slovakia? I'm assuming you've heard of him and that he would still be famous in the C.R. and Slovakia, as he was in Czechoslovakia. I've tried to obtain them in Germany but they are simply unavailable anywhere, not from libraries and not to buy, except for one TV series that was put together after his death. Thanks. Laurence |

... thank you, we have a common history with the Czechs (70 years a common state), I understand the language, I have friends there.
as for J. Trnka, I found this: https://www.zbozi.cz/vyrobek/dvd-sta...ti-ceske-1952/ possibly on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...99%C3%AD+trnka |

Thank you very much for the links. I'll give the first one a try with Google Translate. Maybe there's a way to get something sent to Germany.
As for YouTube, I know his films are available there or at the Internet Archive. However, they're all still under copyright and it would be like stealing from his heirs to watch them there. I have copyrights myself and don't want people to violate them. Thank you anyway; I know you were trying to be helpful and this isn't meant as a criticism of you. What I wrote wasn't entirely accurate; some of his films are available at libraries in Germany. In the system that the university library in my town belongs to, none of them are available for inter-library loan. This surprises me, considering how important Trnka is as a puppet-film maker. > Sorry, for my bad English. You should hear my Slovak. |
