I've started the design of the propeller but I have a dilemma: to make 3 or 4 blades?

This was a 30s 'design' so three blades would probably be 'righter'...

I just don't know, but due to its size i would opt for 4 blades....
3 blades are so lame :p But anyway, make the parts for 4 blades and let the builder decide..... seems the easiest way to solve a problem :D |

I'd join the majority in saying 3 blades is right for the timne frame, but I've always been impressed with the research on Luft46. So maybe offering a "builder's choice" is the way to go.
This is great, Dragos. I've seen the resin model built up on Fantastic Plastic, but there's no way I'd ever be able to afford it with a wife, two cats, and a boating habit to support. I'll be buying this when you release it! Will you be doing a "conjectural" Spanish Civil War paint scheme? Wyvern |

Hello Dragos!
It might help, having a look at contemporary planes that were actually built. A prime candidate is the Do 23 bomber (e.g. here) - same time, same purpose, same engines! Those had wooden 4 blade props. Well, actually, they had two wooden 2 blade props per engine, monted with a 90° offset! This was quite a common arrangement in germany. Those props were, of course, inferior to metal props, but those had to be imported for quite some time. Still, for the model it would be the best to include both varieties. Michi

Looking forward to it!
By the way- do you have plans to do any more of those profile scale WW1 gliders that you and Steve Bucher were doing? Wyvern |
