Pretty impressive. I like when designers show the "creation process". Keep up the good work.

Thanks!
Anyway, I managed to steal a couple of uninterrupted hours to do a little work on the test build. I started by assembling an arbitrarily chosen segment on the fuselage: I then proceeded to complete the nosecone: Before I realized it, it was already getting dark! I actually spent a big amount of time cutting and doing dry fits. I guess wrapping skin around a fuselage requires more time versus the other method of joining together separate segments that have their own formers. I forced myself to complete at least half the fuselage before ending my build session. I'm still new at this fuselage wrapping method.. I found it really hard to avoid getting wrinkles on the outer skin as I tried to wrap them around the formers. So far, the fit is very good! Here's a shot of the top side: Looks like a shark.

I managed to complete the rest of the fuselage today.
It's turning out to be a much harder build than I originally imagined. I think it's the transition of the oval cross section from a horizontal oval at the front to the vertical oval as you reach the cockpit that made the assembly really hard. But I must continue... I don't want to give up just yet. With the fuselage done, I'm hoping it's going to be smooth sailing with the wings, tail fins and landing gears. |

After a long long long haitus, I finally got to resume work on this model.
But I'm afraid I have some bad news. I reviewed the stuff I've done on the fuselage. I realized that I had to pour in a lot of effort just to finished the darned fuselage. In other words, I think I over engineered the design of the fuselage. Although I think I managed to capture the gentle curves of this bird, it was just not fun to build. Hence I decided to do a reboot. But I didn't want to leave the fuselage unfinished without the wings and the butterfly tail. So here it is: I'll need some time to rethink on how to simplify the design and still retain those nice curves.

Sorry it wasn't a fun build, however it does look very good. I believe you have captured the curves quite well.

That fuselage is pretty complex. Congrats on getting it completed.

I was wondering how this was coming. It's good to see you're going to forge ahead with it.
