Henschel HS-132 (Luft46)
Hi all!
Here's a preview of my next design. It ain't actually new by the way. I designed this model wayyy back in 2008, and I actually had a thread about this in the old Z forums. I was able to build a prototype. Unfortunately, a nasty HDD crash caused me to lose all files related to this design. Fast forward to 2012, I guess it's time to stop wallowing in despair. I've decided to pull this old model back from the grave and do a re-disegn. Here are some pix of the old build (whose plans have unfortunately been lost...) And yeah, I'll be vigilantly backing up my files!

Eric, I am VERY glad you're resurrecting your earlier design!
I have for many years sought an Hs.132 for my collection. I even went so far as to photocopy the pictures of the surviving prototype fuselage as the Soviets had captured it. Those are lost now, although the same pictures now exist on the internet. I'd also had a wild idea of building a kitbash with forward swept wings `a la He.162 C, somewhat in a Luft'48 style. It would truly be a joy to finally have a normal Hs.132 as part of my collection. I wish you very success with your Hs.132 design and build. Kind and Respectful Regards Eric my friend, Uyraell.

Oooh, this is gonna be good.
There is no questioning the fact that you've come a long way as a designer since then, so I look forward to seeing the result |

Thank you for the kind words!
I wasn't able to put in much time for modeling work over the recently concluded weekend. However, I was able to squeeze some work... First, I did a rough trace of the HS-132's 3-view outlines: And before calling it a weekend, I ended up with this: |

Very nicely done. This is coming along great. I think you'll have another winner here.

Some progress on the BMW-003 engines
Now I've got to get started on the SC500 bomb. I've no clue on how to do the bomb rack though. Would anyone be able to provide me pictures on how the SC500 bomb rack would look like? In particular, how the bomb is clamped to the rack... Eric

Bombrack images.
File:Imperial War Museum Plane 2.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
File:190D9-1.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Eric_son my friend, I've shown here a few ETC bombrack images. The Ju.88 installation is useful because it shows both the holding claw arrangements. The rack nearest the fuselage is probably the more useful of the two shown, because it too (despite being an exterior rack) is in the same style as those racks which were semi-recessed, similar to the Hs.132. In the Hs.132 the SC500 bomb was carried semi-recessed in the mid fuselage. Therefore, the view shown is relevant. The other images and links are what I was able to find, but in some ways are not quite as helpful, though they are all that I could find that had some use to you. They are of the ETC 501, 503, and 500 series of bombracks. Some of these were in fact dual purpose, in as much as they were also fitted with plumbing for drop-tanks. I hope the info helps. Kind and Respectful Regards Eric_son My friend, Uyraell.

Hi Uyraell,
Thanks for the info! That was very helpful. RE: Partially Recessed racks I based my design from the 3-views I took from the Luft46.com site. And that one does not have a semi-recessed bomb rack. I see some pros and cons here.... PROS: - Non-recessed : The fuselage would be easier to design and build. - Semi-recessed : No need to make a bomb rack since it will be "hidden" when the bomb is attached. CONS: - Non-recessed : I'll need to make a bomb rack. - Semi-recessed : I'll need to punch a concave surface. That's another wheel well, which makes assembly hard. Anyway, I'll make a few experiments as well to see how it will turn out. Thanks again! Eric |
