Romulan Warbird from ST-TOS

It's been a while since I last touched Metaseq, Pepakura and Inkscape.
But fortunately, I was able to convince myself to start anew.

This time around, I chose to do a star trek model. I've always been fond of the Romulans.

Originally, I wasn't sure I'd see this attempt to the end. As such, I wasn't able to take the usual screenshot logs of the design process. So I can only show the finished design:

For texturing, I used the ever reliable Inkscape. I based the textures from the 3-views that I got from this site.

And as always, I used Pepakura to unfold:

Once unfolded, I proceeded with the build:

Anyway, I hope I can keep the momentum this time around, and bring back to life the other unfinished designs that I've left in limbo.

Very nicely done. Are you making it available to others?

Thanks for sharing.

Any build tips?

I was looking through your work on blogspot and am really impressed by your Luft46 work. That period and the "mid century" jet / space designs are unique. Their combination of imagination and naivete always catch my attention.
Thank you for bringing them to us.

Thanks for the kind comments!

I shall be making this available on the downloads section as soon as I finish annotating the diagrams and making a simple set of instructions.

In any case, what's the usual scale for star ship models?

Currently, I'm using 1:400. I based my measurements from the 3-views provided here:
https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcar...rd-of-prey.php

:D oh... and I realized that I incorrectly called this a warbird, when I should have called it a Bird of Prey.

Star Fleet Battles boardgame and miniatures game (I don't do computer games and therefore have no data on them) used several variations of the ship, including one called War Eagle, so I'd say don't sweat about calling it a warbird.

Looking forward to it!

FYI: Roddenberry denoted Warbirds as the large vessels that he used in the Next Gen series. As new writers and producers took over, the term was somewhat generalized.
