101st Airborne Figure

I was wondering if there would be any interest in my doing a blow-by-blow build of this kit. If so, I will take pics and post them with my comments as I go. Yea or nay?

oops! Sorry about the oversized pic, forgot to resize it.

Hey Rick, I didn't realize you had done an in-depth build review on this kit. I did see your sequence of build photos in your gallery however, but just wondered if folks would be interested in a little more detail as to how it went together. Sure looks like yours came out mighty fine. Perhaps I should leave it at that.

I like to see build threads of ANYTHING and this is a kind of model that I like to see, even though I am unlikely to try building one myself.

Looks like your figure has a Rendezvous with Destiny:

look out below!
Stand up, Hook up,

Screaming Eagles go!"

Always interested in seeing how other people go about thier projects. The figures are really interesting to me since I haven't seen many of them.

You seriously needed to ask this group if they wanted to see pictures and a build thread? :D
Yeah like anyone is gonna say no!
Build away and load up all the pics you can, I will look at every single one of them! Personally I don't care if there are 5 people doing 5 threads on the same kit, I love to see them all.

Allrighty then...

This kit, from 3Dpaper, comes in a nice corrugated box, a pleasant surprise. This is handy for keeping all the sheets and parts together between modeling sessions. There are 13 sheets of parts(of which there are 127) printed on good quality cardstock. One front-and-back sheet of instructions is included, consisting of photo assembly diagrams and very little instructional text. The parts look great with excellent photo-realistic textures and crisp outline and scoring lines. This appears to be a very well-engineered kit, so let's give it a go...

Here is the box and instruction sheet...

and here construction has commenced with the right hand and lower forearm. I'm liking this already! Once the hand is assembled it fits into the cuff of the sleeve. Each segment of the arm has glue tabs that fit into the next segment, on up to the shoulder. This guy is gonna be big!
