tiny, wee folks (~1/1200)

This post answers Pablo's question but may (or may not) be of general interest. Hence the separate thread:

This is how I make people in 1/1200 scale. In that scale it's actually very simple (not necessarily easy) because all your eye needs to see is a very vaguely human-shaped shape, and the rest is done by your brain. I.e., my figures are simple, flat polygons (s. attached file leute.pdf).

You need a sharp blade, good light, good vision, and a bit of organisation. Then it's not too hard to do:
- First cut the concave corners along the indicated lines,
- then the convex ones,
- do one horizontal cut at head height,
- and remove all excess material between the figures.
At that size colouring the edges is absolutely clueless, just paint the whole figures as desired!
- Then separate the figures with one final, horizontal cut at ground level.
- DO. NOT. SNEEZE !!!!

Here, I used them as some marines boarding an s&p Sea Knight on my PR USS Independence.

These are very convincing when painted and put into a diorama!

Vaguely related fact: the crowds in the podracing scenes in The Phantom Menace were Q-tips painted and placed in plaster models of the stadium. This was a film ignorantly criticised for overuse of CGI when most of the sets were old-school models...

I've actually glued a few tiny squares onto some Figures as backpacks. But they're completely lost in the mass scene. To tell it with the wise words of King Arthur:
"On second thoughts, let's not go there, 'tis a silly place!"

You can tell your grandson that those figures are nothing, Andreas. Just a few straight cuts. No folding, no glueing. In fact, not half as impressive as his grandpa's helicopter!
