Bird Mobile Nuthatch

The next is a Nuthatch from BirdMobil. It is from a series of realistic card models that were printed in the '70s .

I was afraid to cut up the real deal, so I used the wonderful color copy function on my printer to run a copy so I could build it instead of the original.

At first I was quite confused about the instructions, as they show part number, glue/assembly order, and sub-assembly order #s. it was a lot to work through.

After a while of triple checking the instructions to the parts sheet, I was able to finish the model in about 2 hours.

And, as an added bonus for my mom, this one is going to her for the nature center she volunteers at.

Cool Willygoat!! Nice job! I have the Birdmobile Osprey and don't want to cut it up but it's huge!! That is a European nuthatch by the way as are all the Birdmobile birds (Osprey, Merlin temporal circumpolar) We do have 3 (4 if you count Florida:p) nuthatches but not like that one. The Florida Brown-headed nuthatch is pretty much identical to the Pygmy we have out here. I think they may be the same species although not considered as such. Birdmobile made a kingfisher but not Belted, and a European sp of woodpecker also. Very unique and creative models, especially considering when they were produced.

Those are the models I had want to make at one time. But I have not got any yet. They are not so big. Well this one is not.

That is very well done!

Smart not to cut up the originals. My cats would love to play with your bird. Nice job!

Thanks folks! Glen- the wood pecker is the Lesser spotted. I have that one too. I told my mom that these were European varieties, but she said it wouldn't matter much. Consider it a geography and biology lesson :D
