1mm vs x2 .5 mm card ?

hi guys

so i found a shop for printing paper and such and found a nice 500 page stack of 1 mm card (it's about 7$ if i recall) but i have a mother load of .5 mm card so the question is should i buy the stack or just glue 2 of .5 mm card together and if i do will they be of a lesser quality to 1 mm will they give me any trouble

With the proper adhesive (non water based, spray preferable) the two sheets of .5mm would suffice. Just turn one sheet 90 degrees to the other (that helps
prevent warps).

I would buy the stack ( it's about the same price of a decent can of spray-glue) and it saves a lot work

Well, Ray is right, laminating with spray-glue is not difficult, and just as good as the real thing..

500 sheet pack of 1mm card?

1mm card?

where? where? !!!!

500 sheets?
...that would be a ream more than 500mm thick!
Half a metre!
20 inches!

And you've already got a ton of .5mm card?

My 110lb cardstock is less than .24mm.
...two sheets won't even make me .5mm

am I misreading your entire post or are you quoting the wrong numbers?

no MR.Dave your not misreading it i said 500 sheets and yes it's half a meter tall and weights a lot and yes i have a ton of .5 mm cause every piece of card in my house is never thrown that includes birthday cake packaging and the card that supports the 24 package of toilet paper (.5 mm thick trust me i checked) and two sheets of it does make 1 mm thick (i also checked) if i'm wrong with the numbers i've inculded pics with the sample i got from the store and a sheet of the .5 mm correct me if i'm wrong (for the 1000000 time sorry for the quality) .5mm
1 mm

I save Card and Cereal Boxes.
I cut them up...into sheets.
Then I sand the glossy printed sides.
Then I use $20.00 3M spray glue to laminate sheets together.
Two sheets give me about 1mm thickness.
This gives me the material I need for most formers.

What is this printing store that will sell you a stack of precut 1mm card for $7??
I need to know.
because I need two stacks of this stuff!

oops there was actually a mistake in the numbers there (so sorry about that) the full stack is for 20 $ (150 EGP) 50 sheets are for 7 $ (about 50 EGP) if i recall but prices may vary (don't count on these numbers they may be higher/lower this is a very unstable area of prices) and about the store it's not a famous one it's just a store i found in a place called (souqe al asr) it's a mall mainly for pc parts and stuff like that and there are shops that sell printers and the stuff related to them (paper and card) as well and btw i think my stack is about as big as your stack (.5 mm only) but sizes may be a bit different

and was i right about the thickness i measure them with a standard ruler don't know if that it a certified way of measuring?

thnx

Last week I paid $4.15AU (per sheet) for 1mm card about A2 size (420mm x 590mm) so $20 for 500 sheets (I'm assuming it's A4) is pretty good. If it's a choice between buying a $20 can of glue or $20 worth of 1mm card, I'd go for the card to save the time and effort. It also depends on how much 1mm card you think you'll use... If you stick with the 0.5mm stuff (pardon the pun) then at least you have thinner card when you need it...
