1 mm card
Is there a source of 1mm or 1/16 inch card available to use for formers? I have laminated paper to that thickness, but it's a real pain in the butt! I mean sheets, not cutting up cereal boxes.

Kurt,
Go to your local art store and buy a sheet of Illustration Board, Crescent or Strathmore. The board has regular Bristol board laminated to a card backing and is 1/16 inch. And specify "board" not just Bristol board. There should be a Blick or Utrecht art store in your area. Hope this helps Derek |

Someone on this site, whom I would happily credit if I remembered who it was, suggested going to your local comic book store and requesting the dividers that come in their incoming shipments. My store was happy to give me a generous stack -- of course, it helped that I have a subscription there and they know me. This is not the backing board that they use when they put issues in clear envelopes, but heavier stuff. They'll know what you mean. I haven't tried it on a model yet, though.

I go to Hobby Lobby store and ask for any cutting from the picture framing department, I showed them some pics of my builds and told them how I use it and they gave me a bunch of drop for free. Scraps too small for them work fine for my use......Rich

Paper Model Store
His catalog lists 100 sheets but he'll sell in smaller quantities. And it's good quality stuff.

You can also use Comic or Magazine Backing boards available from any comic shop. They usually have one coated side and one not. I've been able to run them through my printer (rear-feed tray) with no issues.

I use chipboard I get from work. 1mm is the common thickness. It's the brown stock on the back of notepads and legal pads.
