Nostalgia ?
Quote:
Since many of the earlier ones are reprints of the WHV kits, why not just get the original WHV kits. They are probably better quality prints and paper. Also, consider that the early IAF magazines were printed on small paper format ( about ( approximately 7 inches wide by 9 inches tall ) and therefore the layout of the parts was different. I personally have a few of the originals IAF kits dating back to the 60's, but paper that old probably does not behave right and a re scan is probably needed. Same with the original WHV kits. Unless the paper is fresh ( less than 15 years or so, it probably will be risky to build. Some of the IAF magazine repainted WHV were simply to replace the original national insignia with the Israeli star and registration number as in the case of the Nord Noratlas. See some pics here of the F-84 in Danish AF marking and a Nord Noratlas in West German markings. So if you are after nostalgia, then go for it. Otherwise, personally, I will choose better kits or a good repaint of some of them. Just more info for you all. Cheers Isaac

I see your point and take it on board thank you. There was another designer in the mid 60's in Israel who produced some great models, very accurate and high quality colour and details. some of their models were F104, F100, a killer U2 model, and the turbo prop airliner Britania which I built and it took over my desk, that how big it was. I saw that model on the list of HWV. The one i Built was of the Israeli airline El Al. They also produced a great model of the T-55 and the U.S.S. Nautilus. |

Where are you located?
What are you willing to pay?
I have some dating back to the 60's , 70's and 80's. As I said, other then nostalgia and collections, I would not waste time building them. Isaac

Re: IAF Kits. One that is on this list is not still available from Wilhelmshavener. The English Electric Lightning, is now one of the rarest of the rare WHV models. I have seen it come up for sale on eBay exactly once in the last decade (and it was not me that won that auction). But here it is, preserved like a prehistoric fly in amber, in the original UK livery.
