Prizes?

Hey guys,

What would you consider "good" paper model kit prizes? I'm looking to contribute prizes to a contest at the moment, and I'd like to be able to award some nice looking kits.

I think that would depend on the type of contest you are supporting. If the contest has a 'theme,' it would be appropriate the kits be in line with whatever theme is involved. If the contest is for general modeling, I would recommend prizes that are in line with the expected skill levels of most of the participants. Otherwise, my guideline would be to select kits that are ones you would like to keep for yourself. As for myself, "great" prizes would be something high-end like the birdmobile Osprey kit, or something like the GPM kits of the railgun, Dragon Wagon, etc. If those are too pricey, throwing some Ripper Works kits into the mix might be a thought...expecially something like the new RW kit of the Dana. Just my two cents worth.....

some kind of new airforce jet or space plane, something popular in the air force or navy is always good news.

..I think it depends on the contest; and the variety of competitors and their skills. Children, leisure builders, professionals or semi-professionals ... familiar competition or big event?
You should check it out; I've just give you some ideas for the criterions ..

with lovely greetings and a happy easter too
the Wilfried

Dear The Orange;
Different idea does Chris at E-Cardmodels do gift cards? That way the winner could chose what they like.
A Thought,
MILES

Thanks for the advice guys!

The contest has no theme, it's an online modeling competition open to basically everybody. The majority of entries are plastic, but they are very receptive of paper models and they enjoy them.

I'm aiming to get prizes for the categories:
Aviation
Armor
Automobiles
Space
Diorama
Juniors

Here's what I'm thinking:
For armor, 1st would be awarded the Halinski Sherman
2nd GPM Dragon Wagon and Sherman
3rd GPM Jagdpanther and T-55
4th GPM Panhard and Modelik Staghound
For aviation,
1st Halinski Mig 29, Shiden Kai, and Bf-109E4
2nd Modelik Avia BH-5 with frames and Kartonwe Tiger Moth with frames
3rd Modelart F-15c and GPM F-15E

I'm unsure of the other categories though. I would like to award models to the other categories as well.

With those prizes, you got my attention. What contest is this? I would love the chance to take the plasticers down a peg or two.

Oh of course! I was meaning to invite you guys to this contest:

SMA FORUM

It's the big annual spring SMA contest. I'm getting my prize list ready so I can contribute, so that's why I was asking for your guys's input.

I would LOVE for you guys to compete! My plan is to inject increased paper model exposure through competition, and surely one boy cannot do that alone! The plastic competitors are really great people, and they remind me of the "fun" oriented community here at papermodelers.

So please compete if you can!

(Suggestions for the other prize categories are appreciated!)

Whoops, spoke to soon! I'm still contributing some paper model prizes to the SMA contest, though not as extensive as I'd like. I gave myself too little time to actually come up with the kits before the close date.

I'm unsure of what I'll do with the actual prize bulk - I'm thinking generating a Winter competition here or possibly one next summer. So I'll be building that "stash" up for then.

I appreciate the input guys!
