Working on my first paper build.

Been a while since I joined.
Getting a little done on my first paper build.
I started with something that looked like it would be a good first attempt.. Satan's Robot from Star Trek Voyager that I downloaded here.

It has been an interesting learning process for sure. (Been doing plastic kits for 50 yrs.)

Hopefully I will get some pictures up soon.

Jody

You never forget your fist paper build!

Mine was a Fokker Dr.1 from Peter A. Zorn's book, Build It Yourself Fokker Dr.1. I bought the book on a clearance table in front of a bookstore in the mall (Century Plaza ), way back in the mid 80s. I was a senior in high school. I had been an avid plastic kit builder since I was 5 years old. I was instantly taken by the process and possibilities of paper modeling. I eventually drifted away from plastic kits, but have continued to build paper, on and off, for the 35 years since then. Now in my 50s, paper modeling helps keep me sane, calm and relaxed.

Please post pics, and keep building. it really is the hobby of a lifetime....

James

Now that I see it, that is a pretty good choice for First Build. It isn't too big or too small. It has round things and squarish things. And even if you mess things up, it should still be cute. I often recommend folks asking where to start to start with Canon one-page animals to get used to curving paper, and the miniature series of buildings to get used to keeping square things square. And being cute, folks like them even when we mess up.

Looks like you are off to a good start
