Thanks, Airdave. I'll see if I can download PhotoDeluxe to my Windows 10 desktop. That would be great!

The "zip" file on the right (download options) should contain the install software.
Its bin/cue files...an ISO...virtual disc.
So you need an ISO emulator to mount the file and install (as if installing from a disc).

You can also burn the bin/cue file to a disc...and create a new install disc.

LOL
I remember the first time someone explained ISOs to me, it was like alien language.

I seemed to remember that GIMP will open pdf files now. I checked, and it does.

No idea what it does to scaling and detail, though. It does have measuring tools that make it handy to compare different pages on the originals by measuring the same side or part on the different pages.

With a certain amount of fumbling, I managed to download PhotoDeluxe version 2 to my Windows 10 computer. Managed to convert the bin file to iso, then mounted and installed. Everything seems to be there, but when I try to run the program I get a pop up that says this program does not run on my computer. Perhaps PhotoDe!uxe v.3 will run. I'll give it a try.

After the program is installed, right click the desktop icon and click properties...

go to Compatibility.

Check "run the program in compatibility mode" and choose Win 7 or earlier.
Then under "Settings" make sure "run this program as administrator" is checked.

Then try to run the program.

I ran the compatibility routine but the app still isn't working. All other folders open, like the folder with pictures, and the "read me" files open, but not the app itself. Well, we tried.

Thanks for your help, Airdave

Without seeing it myself, I can't suggest any more...
the program is definitely very old (1997) so theres going to be issues.

Looking at what it is, there are a million alternatives to trying to get this program to run
and you just need to bite the bullet and try something else.
You'll find that there are many aspects of other graphics/editing software that are the same.

Your original query was all about Acrobat as your pdf reader since you use it for other things.
I use Acrobat because I have to create PDFs from my model designs.
And it functions as my pdf reader.

I've used other pdf readers in the past, but Acrobat fills my needs.
I'm not a fan of Foxit...for various reasons.

If you want to resize or edit photos and/or model files,
you need to look at newer software just for that.

GIMP or Inkscape are probably your best option if you don't want to pay for something.
GIMP is more photo editing and artwork.
Inkscape is a vector art software more for graphic design.
Both can handle existing model artwork and pdfs, and allow you to resize and/or edit.

Learning the softwares is easier if you use online tutorials.
One place for those is youtube...
try "learn gimp" or "learn inkspace" for basic tutorials to get you started.

Oh, yes, I had near!y forgotten this began with a question regarding a PDF reader that gives me better control of printer features. I'll continue to experiment with attempts to run older programs on my current Windows 10 computer. Fortunately, my XP machine keeps ticking along for now.
