Thanks Simon. The glaze gives an overall plastic look. I have rebuilt the engine (on the right). I did not do a very good job of rendering the bolts. I am not to happy with the second one either. I'll reprint it today on gray paper and try to do a better alignment of the push rods.

I am pretty happy with the cowling. I painted it it and the fairing plates with Testors diamond dust one coat lacquer. Then 2 light coats of Krylon matte finish.

Excellent work Douglas. Beautiful detail on both of those engines. Keep going....

That cowl looks amazing as does the engine! As opposed to my stuff, the closer you get to
yours, the better it looks

Can't wait to see more

Thanks guys, you are too kind. I'm using Richard Schulten's engine designed specifically for this kit. I also added an additional piece to the front of the cowling that is not included in the kit (indicated in red).

Well I finally got an engine I can live with. It fits in the cowling perfectly. The last two were a tight fit. The gray paper (65lbs) worked out pretty well.

Your craftsmanship is superb on all three engines but the grey paper in the third one really makes it click.

That cowl gives me something to strive for too. If the rest of your ship looks as good as these beginnings it will be another masterpiece.

Yeah. I could live with that engine and cowl, too, Douglas. They're beautiful!
