I made one of the business card iris models using 110#/199gsm cardstock. It turned out OK but is a little "floppy" I guess is the word. The mechanism still works. I have printed out the parts on some 100#/260gsm bristol board and will try that out when I get a roundtuit. The bristol board seems to be closer to the stiffness of the stock used in the video.
I found that adding 2mm to the bottom hides the mechanism parts that protrude from the bottom when operating the iris, but it then is not the same dimensions as a standard business card in the USA so trimmed the 2mm off. The mechanism does not protrude when the iris is in the closed position, only when operating and opened. The iris might be handy for some SciFi RPG terrain like a spaceship door. Scaling and skinning to fit the need.

This model's already a knockout, and merely using different colors of paper would double the effect.

FSPM iris card video
Here is a video of the mechanical iris with the FSPM logo applied. I had to use my point and shoot camera's video function instead of a camcorder.
