Daz3D has lost it's mind
www.Daz3D.com has lost its corporate mind. "For a short time only" it is offering the pro version of its entire 3D software suite for free...read as zero dollars....including Hexagon 2.5 (3D drawing program), Brice 7 pro (3D modeling program) and Daz Studio 4 pro. Retail price for the suite pushes $1000. If you are at all interested in some good professional quality software, grab it now....this kind of an offer is scarcer than hen's teeth, and finer than frog hair. No catches, no limitations (time or otherwise), no excuses for not having some good quality 3D software. The down side is that it doesn't have unfolding capability.

Just tried Hexagon out for a bit, but it seems solid and relatively easy to use/learn. And it can export to .dxf, .3ds, .obj and a few others, so those using Pepakura don't need to worry.

BUT you forgot!! It requires a NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTION!
Oh wait...I already have that...duhhhh... Probably what they're hoping is that people will download these high-end programs, find they don't know how to use them, and then start buying the figure and landscape packages they offer. It's looks nuts on paper but it's actually pretty sound. If you can eliminate the start-up cost you could be potentially grabbing a lot of new customers. That's why they require you to subscribe to the newsletter where they offer their new products. |

What type of paper models can be created using this software? Simple hollow ones with tabs attached to parts like what comes out of Pepakura or can models with formers and separate tabs be created?

I did find a thickness button on the interface, so it might be possible.
And Avery, if only that subscription is required, just take it for granted. But I also recieved a 30% off coupon/code after 'purchasing' Hexagon.

Web business strategies are always full of surprises. I downloaded this stuff last week. After uninstalling my Bryce 5 install (I have a purchased disc from years ago) I tried installing this Bryce 7 version, but finally gave up because I couldn't get the darned thing to open. Apparently the install requires certain configuration of Windows and if you don't have it you're out of luck. After spending hours reading forum posts and trying different things I decided I was fine with my old Bryce 5 after all.

Drats...the site is blocked from our corporate network.
I'll have to wait to get home later tonight to check this one out. I hope I'm not too late. |

I got this message:
"Your checkout was delayed, possibly because our server is very busy." Gee, ya think?
