or they are newly designed?
I am unsure.
why do they remind me of FG kits?

I think their hand drawn style is like the old FG models.

I've given a few of these models to the kid next door to color (well he uses markers), then I give it a few coats of clear satin, and build them. It gives the kid a feeling that he built it. Building models will be at a later stage.
