Civil War models

Civil War models

I love the Civil War era models and post Civil War Monitor style ironclads. I have a good collection started, but I am looking for others. Free is always a nice thing, but I am not opposed to paying for good models. I am looking at the CSS Nashville ironclad sidewheeler as my next purchase, even if some of the details may be off, it is still a good looking model. If I have some that you are interested in let me know, most of mine so far are free. Some links are:

Yeah, I've got the same links myself. I have a fondness for the old steam sidewheelers myself.

Have you seen the NUMA site? Founded by Clive Cussler, an author of many fairly shallow but fun to read fiction novels. Anyway, these are the guys who found the C.S.S. Hunley (confederate submarine) and many other old shipwrecks. My current favorite is the story of how Clive Cussler and NUMA found the shipwrecked remains of the Republic of Texas Naval Ship "Zavala". They found it buried under a warehouse parking lot! Cool pictures, and some fun reading for a shipwreck buff. In my opinion, these would make some dandy subjects for paper model designs.

Curiously, I have the same yearning but have not acted on it. The blockade runner Teazer has been on my list for a looooong time but I keep getting distracted. ...and now I have a horde of hounds baying at me to turn out my own kits. Hmph. I would love to design some of the European sidewheelers somewher along the line. But then, people would need to learn how to do full ship rig!

Hello David,
I love the Clive Cussler novels. I first read a Clive Cussler book called SEA HUNTERS. I started reading his Dirk Pitt novels.

Hay Carl,
I have the TEAZER down loaded but I have not yet started on it. Time...never enough!

HaHa! Clive Cussler books are fun! My wife picked one of my old Dirk Pitt paperbacks and started reading it. Complained through the whole book about the blatant, machism of the story. (But that didnt' stop her from reading the book cover to cover.) Aaaand, she started bringing home his other books from the library.

"Hey Honey, I thought you said those books were sexist?"

"Leave me alone! I'm reading!"

....heh heh..

Ahh Golden Bear... how I would love to see those steamers designed.
