...this airplane went at auction for $1,210,000 ($1.1 + 10% buyers premium). Buyer was Mr. Ron Pratte who, while not a pilot, is a collector of rare cars and airplanes. Airplanes include a Spartan Executive, P-51 Mustang, Bearcat, and now a Ford Tri-Motor. Mr. Pratte lives in Chandler, Arizona, and has most of his collection at Chandler Stellar Air Park.

He's the same guy that bought the GM Futureliner bus a few years ago and the Olds F88 factory show car. Keep hoping he's going to set up a museum or at least arranged viewing times for his collection.

According to the Barrett-Jackson page in Wikipedia I went for $1,100,000. Oh, well. I don't think I'd have room for it anyway. I be fine with Mr. Zorn's excellent paper version whenever I get around to finally building it.
