An Introduction to Origami

Not paper models but Origami, making representational objects from a single sheet of folded paper. This site is for beginners and has many instructions that can be viewed. The patterns are simple and the instructions use the old style of showing pictures of progressive folds, rather than the modern fold map which is intimidating to beginners.
Prepare a lot of paper squares, and have fun.

Chinese Traditional Bridge and 19th c.Taiwan Building

Models from Taiwan, an island located south of Japan. I found this archived page by following up a site posted on "papermau". I think making the bridge would be a challenge.

Japanese Blog about Paper Models

Here is a blog (with a lot of Flash animation) about paper models.
There are links to downloads, especially a large number of anime characters, but they are "hidden" away behind layers and layers of Flash, Javascript and Kanji. Anyway, the graphics and animation are eye popping.
The blogger shows steps in creating a .pdo model from the original anime image, detailed build ups of .pdo models, and has a couple of carousels of his completed figures.
Have fun navigating the site and trying to find all the downloads.

I have had the best browsing experience on this site using Chrome and its auto-translator. Chrome also seems to be able to handle the animation and scripting better than the other browsers I tried.

Just posted on Papermau is a rider for the Yamaha YZR M1 paper model.
The figure is of a girl with very long blue twin pony tails.
I think she is a tough girl biker version of Hatsune Miku, everyone's favorite virtual singer.
