The recent Canon paper models show that the Japanese have made a significant advance in ice cream technology : cone stands that keep your hands clean and catch drips.

They also make cup cakes in a cone.

The model is now available on the English language site:

Miniature world (Kitchen car / Ice cream) - Miniature world - Toys - Paper Craft - Canon Creative Park

And while you're there, searching for "Miniature world" brings up more examples.

The Halloween market is delightful, with so many fun little details. I'm hoping that they do a traditional Japanese room or a sushi bar in the Miniature World series at some point.

There are a lot of modern Japanese rooms, restaurants and stores including a sushi bar ( look for "dh sushiya") on the Sanwa web site:

If you leave out the PC the "syosai" could be a Japanese man cave from any time in the last 60 years.
Click on the buttons to the left to find many more paper crafts.
Epson released a paper model of a 1950's Japanese living room, but to download it, you had to have an Epson printer, made for the Japan (not international) market and a Japanese OS.
I wrote Epson USA to see if I could get copies of their only for Japan models, after all I did have an Epson printer. I got a very polite reply to the effect that Japanese models to leave Japan was not a possibility.
I have posted links to Japanese restaurant buildings, and Mauther (papermau.blogspot.com) has posted Japanese buildings and restaurants.

Here is a paper toy on the same web site:

There are many phonographs of early Meiji era Japan and many art works to look at on this web site. have fun clicking your way through the Tokyo Museum collection, and please post links to anything interesting you find.
