Never seen it, I think it's extremely rare, specially in that condition ,bit pricy
I knew a web-site dedicated to Wallis Rigby, but it looks it doesn't exists anymore..

Only valuable as a collectors item.
Not as a scale model.

Rigby stuff has a vintage appeal.
A recognized name.

Of interest to a papermodel collector
as well as a paper items collector.
But it would be of much interest to buyers of vintage American advertising.
Nice that it has the upper banner and is complete.

I'd also say it has a bigger appeal to PanAm collectors.
Once the king of the skies, Pan Am stuff is much sought after.

(I was lucky enough, twice, to experience the wonder of flying with PanAm.
Only airline that came close was BOAC)

It looks like a fairly large model.
But $159?...and $39 shipping to my location (lol)
I think thats just eBay gouging again.
Thats the trend on eBay now...the auction thing has dried up.
Now its all about "put a ridiculous price on it and let it sit in your store"

He's got the best Offer option available.
I would say $50 max.
Give it a try if you want it.

Chip Fyn gathered some info about Wallis Rigby and his models at Fiddlers Green:
Wallis-Rigby | Miscellanous |
(there are two pages altogether, there's a link to the other page at the bottom of this page). If I remember right he also had some of Rigbys models scanned and in PDF-format but I can't find that page now. I remember downloading six of them years ago.

Some of the Rigby designs are rarely seen now, but that does seem a high price. They are almost all die-cut, which makes them hard to duplicate with a xerox. He published from the 30's into the jet age, both in the UK and the US. Some of the designs are quite clever. Charles Province used to run the Rigby Paper Model club, with a nice website that included a list of most if not all of what Rigby published. Was in San diego, then Oregon, now seems to be closed. Last email address was [email protected], snail mail:
17010 South Potter Road Oregon City OR 97045 Charles M. Province, Founder

"Bakelite rigid vinyl plastic sheet".
Sounds like a curiously interesting material of the early plastic age as well.
Anyone know anything about it ?

Indeed it was britle and heavy too, so not really suitable for this purpose
(although my 70+ year old still working and connected phone might want to dispute the not long lasting bit ).
Which is what made me curious as to whether anyone knows the exact nature of of the "Bakelite/vinyl material" used in this kit.
Google knoweth not.

Bakelite is a company.
They manufactured "plastic" things.
A particular type of plastic got to be known as "bakelite".
It was a non conductive plastic used in a lot of electrical things.

Anyway, this model is printed on Mylar, NOT bakelite.
Mylar is just a thin flexible sheet plastic.
We still use it today.
But it was very new for that time.

Bakelite was just the company that developed the Mylar.
