agreed...different links, different outcome today.
somebody fixed things me thinks.

and I have to add, once I finally download the file,
I was very disappointed to see this chopped up multi-page low res jpg version of the original poster.
I would much rather have seen the original advertisement.

fyi this has all been extracted and repurposed from this site: Houdini paper craft robot from 1919 - PAPER CRAFT ROBOTS - Alphadrome
...not sure why people can't leave things where they find them? (instead of repackaging and rehosting files ....just for the purpose earning credit and download revenue I guess)

Not sure where Pygar found it, but I think this backtracks to the guy who originally chopped it up and resized it.

I still can't seem to find the original.

Apparently a reproduction of this "robot" suit (Q-Automaton) is in a Houdini Museum in New York.
The original suit reportedly destroyed and long gone.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it onto something else,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

wow, I thought I searched pretty good, but I didn't find that page...
great info! thanks!!
nice to get a look at the original advertisement.

so, some guy made a nice reproduction of the original ad, probably well out of copyright by now, and is selling them (his reproduction poster).

and this fellow robothut decided to copy the poster, enlarge it, turn it into jpgs and distribute it publicly.
...do ya think he asked for permission? lol
...did he even buy one first and then copy it? or just rip from the image of the poster on the above site?
(I'm thinking the latter)

lol shaking my head.
the more you look, the worse it gets! lol

Nothing from 1919 is still in copyright; who is there to ask? I did ask Robohut if he minded sharing his files, out of politeness; he didn't.

The general store model on my Howdy page was run by the owner of the now-defunct web page it came from. He was delighted, as he'd lost his own copy!
The original store is still in Pine Ridge Arkansas, and is a museum dedicated to the radio show.

Nothing from 1919 is still in copyright? ...this is just not true.
Copyrights are in place as long as someone keeps them in place.
Just because something is old, you shouldn't assume its yours for the taking.
I'm old...but I ain't free!

"who is there to ask?" unfortunately it can be very difficult finding and contacting the relevant persons for any project,
but just because you can't contact them, doesn't make something free for the taking.
What if they were in the toilet when you called?

He shared his files "out of politeness"? ...so, had he not shared with you, you'd find that impolite? lol

I don't know anything about your "general store"...how did that come up?
We best not talk about that.

I have no issues with robothut trying to preserve a little bit of forgotten history by restoring the original advertisement.
I do agree that in this case, the work is probably long forgotten and not properly protected by any copyright.
So creating and then selling reproduction posters is okay with me too.
But hopefully he checked with the Houdini "estate" since it is still in business, in case they own any of this.

But that still doesn't make it fair game for "free sharing" or redistribution without permission.
Just saying.
Asking after the fact isn't the same as getting permission.
"Excuse me, did you mind that I broke in and cloned your Dog last night?"

.............
On a related note, it looks like The Master Mystery is available on youtube.
THE MASTER MYSTERY 1 of 20 by Harry Houdini - YouTube
There are a few versions (different uploaders), but all appear to be in 20 parts.

if you have Windows 10 and want to explore or download from a questionable web site, use a browser opened in “Sandbox”, which is supposed to be isolated from the installed OS.

Thats a good suggestion.
Sandbox is free for earlier Windows too.
I used to have it installed ...still on Win 7.
Its also good for test running programs.

Although I think if you have decent anti malware and antivirus installed, you're protected if something gets in.
And on Win 10, Defender now appears to be worthy.

For browsing I use Brave browser with "shields" up for most sites
and I use Kaspersky antivirus which also blocks things in the browser.
I also have AdBlock installed which blocks a load more.

With all this running, I often see false positive alerts, but its better to be blocked before it gets any worse, rather than click links and take your chances.

I asked Robohut out of politeness.
Copyright in the USA then was 28 years. Now, barring unusual circumstances (cough Disney cough) it's anything 1925 or before.
The store was also shared on WeTransfer; now that most are OK there now, I wanted to make sure it was known about.
