Great collection of tatebanko
Hello all,
This ongoing conversation about antique tatebanko and where to find them made me start a search of my own. Maybe this is old news, but I recently found a great collection of them at the Shochiku Otani Library, searching under the key words 'Toro- e' or 'Kumigami Toro-e'. After years of finding just a few here and there, I'm bowled over by the sheer amount you can find at this site. Some are dioramas, some are templates to construct interesting lanterns. Some with quite a lot of information about the source, artist, year of publication, and some even with the story behind the scene: 松竹大谷図書館所蔵「組上燈籠絵」検索閲覧システム - 検索結果 Just click 'next page', and you'll find a whole lot more! Everything can be downloaded. |

Sensorie overload!
Whew! what a find. I could get lost here for days on end. So frustrating too, want then all, but realize I'd need my own museum to properly display them in the finished state. Well that, and having to live about another 50 years or so to finish them all. LOL
But a HUGE thankyou for your sleuthing in discovering this treasure to at least be in awe of from afar. |
