Thanks, Anne. Looking at the Day 6 balustrade with the spaces to be cut out between the balusters, and with other responsibilities tomorrow, I fear that I will not be able to keep it up.

Correction to Post#19. Graph 3 should read, "Images 3 and 4. I believe that, as daverocket suggested, the large rectangle from OL4#6 fits across the back of the building, and the smaller rectangle [vice "triangle"] supports the roof."

Progress so far and some questions

It looks like we are going to be treated to another film set.

It will be a while before I try my hand at the broadcasting truck. I have the parts for the tower and dome cut out (Image 1) and partially assembled (Image 2). But I still have more window fames to cut out, petals of the dome to burnish into shape, and construction to carry out.

And I have some questions (Image 3):

What is the purpose of the rectangle circled in red that appears to duplicate the top of the tower? Perhaps the first level of the dome base is to be glued on that rectangle of card and when the entire dome has been constructed, perhaps the whole assembly is to be glued to the top of the tower?

What is the purpose of the backing sheet for the balustrade (yellow arrow)? Is it to strengthen the balustrade? If so, does the gray side go out and to the rear, in which case the spaces between the balustrade would be cut out of one thickness of card before the backing sheet is laminated. Or are we meant to cut out the spaces between the balustrade and then laminate the balustrade to the backing sheet so that the gray shows between the spaces of the balustrade?

I have collected some images of the tower and dome to help in understanding how they are assembled.

It's a pleasure to follow your building process, thank you for sharing it.

And thanks to Foute Man to save the models!

I didn’t get too much done today (the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor): a couple more window frames (the window frames for the upper stories are more complex than those of the ground floor) and some work on the truck.

Image 1. The major parts of the truck.

2. The frame. Note that I left extra card to make it easier to fold the thin narrow edges of the frame.

3. The rear axle and a question: what is the purpose of the part outlined in red? I can’t see how it can possibly be folded up. Is it a misprint?

4 and 5. Parts of the wheels. They did not turn out very well and I question the value of all that cutting out at this scale. I’m glad to see that the six wheels of today’s model are much simpler.

6. The status of the model as I go off to bed.

I hope someone can answer the questions I asked yesterday:
