Searching for paper models in different languages
Hello folks,
Okay, so I saw this gif once that flipped through various names used for paper models in different languages, and then listed some of the most common ones down below. Then I goggled these terms and got mixed results, but if you narrow down your search using ("") in your search, you tend to more specific results. So, instead of goggling firetruck+paper model+Japan, try "firetruck"+ペーパークラフト, or "firetruck"+ペーパークラフト+.jp Happy hunting in the new year! Czech - Papírový model /Papírové Modely / Paper Modely China - 紙模型 Denmark - Papirmodel Germany - Kartonmodellbau /Kartonmodell schiffe / Kartonmodellbau schiffe/Papiermodell English - Paper Model /Card Model /Papercraft Spanish - Modelo de papel Estonia - Pepakura France - Maquette en carton / Maquettes en papier / Modčle de Papier Israel - דגם נייר Italy - Modello di carta / Modelli in Carta Japan - ペーパークラフト Netherland - Bouwplaat Poland - Modelarstwo kartonowe Portugal - Modelo de papel Romania - Modelul de hârtie Russia - Бумажное моделирование Slovenia - Papierový model Serbian - Papirno modelarstvo Sweden - Pappersmodeller Vietnam - Mô hěnh giấy Taiwan - Thailand - South Africa - Paper Models+.za |

Thank you, a useful compilation. Linguistically, it stands out that virtually every term is a transliteration of the English or German terms, with only Dutch having nothing in common with the other European languages. The time period something appears can often be dated by this principle. The Vietnamese term means something like 'paper shapes'. The Estonian is coincidently the same as the well-known Japanese software.
