This is a really good model for the intended audience - it clearly demonstrates what a karst system is, and using a simple row of 2D 'theatre backdrops' avoids the difficulty of creating 3D rock structures.

I visited a karst cave at Skocjan in Slovenia some years ago. In places the ceiling has collapsed and you can stand on a platform and look down into the large hole in the limestone below.
